The object of this project is to increase the
transfer capacity of Port Valparaiso through the creation of an
Extension Zone destined to the development of Logistic and Operational
activities to support traditional port operations
The initial area to be used for this projecthas been calculated
to be 44 hectares, with the following distribution:
· Truck parking 10,0 hectares
· Operation back up areas 14,3 hectares
· Cargo and Transport Services 5,5 hectares
· Regulating organisms control 1,3 hectares
· Terminal handling and operation 12,3 hectares
This terminal is thought out to concentrate
activities such as Customs, Livestock and Agricultural Service,
USDA and parking controls; truck selection previous to shipping.
Other activities such as full and empty container storage; stuffing
and unstuffing of containers; storage of break bulk cargo, reefer
containers and other services associated to cargo, transport and
personnel are also being considered
The modality of operation of this terminal will be shared between
EPV and several private operators. These will be concentrated
in Operational Zones destined to present services for cargo. In
a first stage, four Operational Zones are considered. The rest
of the activities common to all the operational zones will be
developed and carried out directly by EPV.
The estimated amount of investment borders 26
million dollars, which include installations and land.
