MARITIME OPERATIONS:

Location: The port is located in latitude 33 º 01'33''south and longitude 71 ° 38'22''West, 110 km. northeast of Santiago.

Anchoring: There is a large segment of the bay sheltered from the prevailing SW winds that is destined for the anchoring of ships entering the port, with water depths ranging between 27 and 46 meters. All vessels anchoring outside the port area must apply for approval from the captain of the port of Valparaiso by radio or through their agencies.

Radio: The maritime territory authority, DIRECTEMAR maintains a central station at the port captain´s office with CBV-4 features that give service to domestic and foreign ships. The Port uses the VHF Channel 16 KHz 2.182.

Pilotage: Pilotaje in the bay is required. The ships and vessels must wait for the bay pilots near the lighthouse at Punta Angeles, 2.5 cable length outside the sheltered mole (at 009 º and 456 metres from the lighthouse end of the shelter mole).

Repairs: Sociedad Iberoamericana de Reparaciones navales Ltda. SOCIBER, operates a floating dock of 10,000 tons, located in the port area in front of site 8. The Navy´s Shipyard, ASMAR, specializes in repairing Commercial ships as well as its own.

Nautical Tugs: There are six private nautical tugs available, whose power range is from 1,400 to 4,000 HP. In addition there are two boats that provide mooring service.

Fuel: There are several companies that deliver crude oil and diesel.
Depending on the needs of the ship, such delivery can be done by trucks on the dock, from a barge on the side of the ship or by submarine pipeline directly from the oil terminal of Las Salinas, located 8 km. north of the port.
